sorry but i turned it off at the 4 sec mark.
okay i'll try to give it a chance.

okay i had to shut it off again.

it reminds me of a song that plays at the end of a real bad action movie.

Probably not what you want to hear, but you asked...

1997 called and they want their "music" back.

    It's garbage.

Opening is a bit rough on first listen, but the track comes together by the 40 second mark. Adjacent to styles I like, so while not something I'd go out of my way to listen to I certainly didn't dislike it. :)

Check out this new song by Kamikaze DJ and me at: https://youtu.be/7klR5FN5JJI?si=wcNoCqi-O_ZlLc7T

I'm genuinely interested in your opinion.

I could imagine this music as background for a dance battle, a computer demo or, as MRO said, as the closing credits music for an action film. It seems to place a great deal of emphasis on sound effects for their own sake. It's a very dense, high-energy soundtrack. It certainly produced to a high standard.

I don't think anyone here would understand dubstep.

My only notes are that it's not mixable. It's spot on if you're going for more "strutting" feel than dancing.

Wrong! I listen to dubstep all the time, particularly on SOMA FMs "DubStep Beyond" channel.

Is there subgenres of dubstep nowadays? I don't remember dubstep sounding anything like this a long while ago. Maybe some light lead-ins, but then a huge bass drop and quite a bit heavier, much more distortion, or chonky, if you will (Skrillex, for example; but maybe he has some lighter songs that I've never heard, too).

Where is the line drawn between dubstep and d&b?

Pretty much every genre ends up with subgenres ;).

Yeah, the line /is/ quite small between dubstep and dnb. Probably why the need for subgenres.

I actually really enjoy listening to dubstep. I might not be able to do the dance moves anymore (bad knees), but still enjoy the music.

Where is the line drawn between dubstep and d&b?

I worked at a music startup back in 2000 called Epitonic. We made
arrangements with small record labels to allow music downloads as well
as to make a "music locker" where you could create your own playlists
    online.

The music was curated by a team of people, and they featured "Genre
Walkthroughs", where they'd go into the history of each genre and then
    offer a playlist.

Some of the arguments onsite were amusing. Was LTJ Bukem Jungle,
breakbeat, D&B or IDM? Maybe his older stuff was jungle but the newer
    tracks were neosoul/triphop?

There were so many subgenres that it was difficult to figure which
    artist went in which genre.

It was a great idea at the wrong time. the record indiustry painted
MP3s as piracy, even though our site had licensed the tracks for
download. Online streaming was still new - curated, streaming on-demand
playlists would be popular later with Spotify when more bandwidth
    became available.

Never had to do that, though I did buy a T-shirt.

...been mostly listening to YouTube ambient vids when I work.

I do that at home; lot of synthwave and lo-fi.

Time to go back to Groove Salad and Space Station SOMA!

Soma's my favorite audio streamer. There's very few of the channels I don't listen to. In fact, as I write this, I'm listening to Ill St. Lounge...also at work. :)

Ain't that the truth. So many things I miss because it hurts to much to do them anymore or I'm afraid of putting myself in a full body cast. :P
