I'd like to see Rush on their current tour if possible - Possibly in Seattle in October. Their opening night was last night (June 7) in Los Angeles. I saw that someone recorded it and posted it on YouTube.

Annika Nilles did a wonderful job at the gig, kudos to her.

Unpopular opinion: I'm not a fan of Geddy Lee's singing recently. He's
having a harder time hitting the high notes, understandably, and it
seems like he either drops it down way too far or struggles to his the
notes he used to hit. I'd think taking everything down a notch might be
    better.

I thought the same about Chris Squire. The only person I thought who
could fill in for him was John Wetton, who'd also passed away.

There's a live recording online of John Wetton playing the bass line
and singing Roundabout on one of his solo shows, that's a handful...

Hearing Geddy Lee play with them on their hall of fame induction was
nice, Geddy did an impressive job IMO.

There are plenty of drummers that can play those songs note for note. It's nice hear a fresh take and her style is pretty incredible all on its own, so adding that to Rush is a plus.

They were great. I love that they're playing a significantly different set each night. We were treated to all of Moving Pictures, in order (Tom Sawyer, Red Barchetta, YYZ, etc.). Dreamline and New World Man were also surprise "first time played" this tour songs. I think there are still some unplayed songs that they've likely worked-up for Saturday and future cities/shows. So far, they haven't played anything from Caress, Power Windows, T4E, or Vapor Trails (maybe others I'm not recalling), but still - a very full night of music. And Anika killed it. I've been a fan of hers since she first appeared on YouTube like 12 or more years ago, and though she's not traditionally a "Rush-type" drummer, she's absolutely an incredible drummer and she's sounding great with Rush. A great choice. Highly recommended.

It sounds like it was an awesome set. In particular, I think it would be awesome to see them play all of Moving Pictures. I considered going to their Time Machine tour in 2011 but I didn't - I wish I had. I have the blu-ray of that tour, and sometimes I like watching bits of it (as I do with their other tours that I have on DVD/blu-ray).

I have seen Rush a few times, and the first for me was their Vapor Trails tour in 2002. There was one point where they were jamming and Alex went into one of his silly stories (which I think he is known for): "I'd like to tell you about a time when I was attacked by a sandwich.." In their concert videos, I think they tend to leave out things like that, but I wish they'd leave them in. He doesn't do that at every show though.

I listened to "Exit Stage Left" while walking my dog yesterday. I have

that. It's so ingrained in my mind that it hurts to hear him trying to

From videos I've seen online, it looks like they're killing it. It looks like Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson are still enjoying it, and Anika Nilles is nailing it as their drummer. And while there has been a lot of attention on Anika Nilles, I feel like there hasn't been enough attention on the other person who has joined them to help out with keyboards, Loren Gold. I think he deserves some appreciation too.

They're there. I watched about the first 45 min. on one. I was rather disappointed. Granted, I liked the stage production and the playing was there (though the drummer's playing was a bit weak), but I could've done without the cheesy intro video, and Geddy's voice isn't what it used to be, which is understandable given his age. It's possible too that the audio was at fault as it was coming from someone's cell phone, though the images was excellent.

Is there a version with a pro-audio setup?

How does Rush look bad? I don't see the harm in them going on another tour if they want to. They're drawing a lot of fans; I'd go see them but the ticket prices are a bit high (which does seem a little odd).

I like the songs and their skill with their instruments. Alex is a great guitarist, Geddy is a great bassist & keyboardist, and Neil Peart was one of the best drummers in music. Their music had a particular sound (and it changed a bit as they changed their style a bit through the years). And I think the lyrics in many of their songs are good too.

I think they're good people too. In interviews & such, I have the sense that they're just good people, and they don't take themselves too seriously.

it has always hurt me to hear him sing.

In the 70s, a Rolling Stone critic noted thst his singinh was akin to two
    cats f*cking.

I get it, some can't stand his voice, I like his voice because it's a unique voice and Rush would'nt be Rush without his voice.

Many people have a unique voice, and it's one reason they're not lead
    singers in a band... ;-)

maybe they are touring because of bad business deals.

Or maybe they just want to reclaim a little of the glory days.

That's usually not possible, no matter how hard they (over) try.

Give me Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Stones, Aerosmith, Jimmy, Doors, etc... but

I Lvoe all these bands, and Rush to.

I do understand that MANY people love Rush, but I don't understand why. That's OK though, as music is quite a variable thing with people. Some
people don't like Pink Floyd. <BOGGLE>

That happens. It could be like the old quarterback or fighter who thinks
they got one more in them.

Yes, and those situations ALWAYS end up making them look bad. This case is no different.

How does Rush look bad? I don't see the harm in them going on another tour if they want to. They're drawing a lot of fans; I'd go see them
but the ticket prices are a bit high (which does seem a little odd).

Well.... I thought it was pretty obvious. They sound horrible, at least
    the vocals do.

Honestly, I grew up in the 70's/80's when they were in their prime. Never did like them, even then. It's the voice, I guess. He sounds like an adolescent boy going through puberty when your voice is changing. The rest of it is fine, but... can't get past that voice. I've always been amazed at the cult-like following of Rush fans, and I just don't understand the attraction.

I like the songs and their skill with their instruments. Alex is a
great guitarist, Geddy is a great bassist & keyboardist, and Neil Peart was one of the best drummers in music. Their music had a particular
sound (and it changed a bit as they changed their style a bit through
the years). And I think the lyrics in many of their songs are good
    too.

Agreed on Alex and Neil, no doubt. It's Geddy that I think is dragging
them down, but I thought that in 1980 also. ;-)

I think they're good people too. In interviews & such, I have the
sense that they're just good people, and they don't take themselves too seriously.

Could be, I don't know. Not really a factor in my grading of a band.

Do you think Geddy is just an overall bad musician? He doesn't just do vocals, he also plays bass & keyboards.

the band is great. the singer is horrible. i think people like it because it's so different.

There is no other voice like him, but man, they can play!

I wasn't big on the forst couple of albums, but Moving Pictures was the one that changed my mind.
I too liked those guys, including Skynyrd, .38 Special, AC/DC...

He's not bad on bass and KB, but nothing real special, either. It's his
voice that is just .... strange. It's always been strange. I really
    can't even listen to it.
